At the annual George Martin award ceremony hosted by the Knaresborough Civic Society the Blind Jack Statue and Bebra Gardens project were awarded a “Civic Achievement Award” as projects that are environmental and have considerable community involvement.
The Blind Jack project was described as
“A team effort by a number of agencies to raise the money and install an excellent statue to one of the great characters of Knaresborough.”
The Bebra Gardens project
“An excellent example of community spirit to restore a semi neglected garden with quality plants for public enjoyment”,
The three projects short listed for the Design Awards
1) The renovation of Beech House on High Street
2) The restoration of the Mitre Hotel
3) The improvement works carried out by the County Council for the renovation of Knaresborough Public Library.
All were commended and the George Martin salver was awarded to the renovation of Beech House.
