Bond End, Knaresborough Pollution

by billhoult on 17 July, 2011

The latest annual update on Air Pollution Standards across the Harrogate District shows that air quality in Bond End is still exceeding the maximum Nitrogen Oxide levels of 40 micrograms per cubic metre despite an Air Quality Management Area being declared in November 2010.

Cllr Bill Hoult comments “The persistently high levels of pollution are very worrying particularly in view of the Harrogate Council’s proposal to recommend the erection of over 800 houses in Knaresborough over the next eleven years. Working on at least two cars per household 1600 cars will surely just make matters worse  and cause parts of the High Street already close to the levels to also be in breach?”
