In a byelection in the Hookstone ward of Harrogate caused by the untimely death of the sitting Liberal Democrat councillor Reg Marsh, Clare Skardon the new Liberal Democrat Candidate held the seat with an increased majority.
The win was more impressive in that not only did the Tory and UKIP vote decline but the their combined vote was still less than Clare’s which trashed the usual excuse by the Tories that “UKIP stole our vote and let the Lib Dems in.”
The result was as follows
Clare Skardon (Lib Dem) 886
Majority 335Leave a comment
